    1. What RHINO-TON® is and what it is used for

    The drug RHINO-TON® contains xylometazoline hydrochloride as an active substance, which belongs to the group of sympathomimetic agents that act on alpha-adrenergic receptors of the nasal mucosa. When applied to the nose, it causes constriction of the blood vessels of the nasal mucosa, thus eliminating the swelling of the mucous membrane and nasopharynx. Facilitates nasal breathing.

     The composition of the drug includes sorbitol, which can reduce the symptoms of dryness of the nasal mucosa.

    The action comes in a few minutes and lasts for 12 hours. Xylometazoline does not disrupt the function of the ciliated epithelium.

     The drug RHINO-TON® is used to treat various types of rhinitis, to facilitate the outflow of secretions in case of inflammation of the paranasal sinuses, as an adjuvant therapy for otitis media (to reduce swelling of the nasopharyngeal mucosa), to facilitate rhinoscopy.

    If after 7 days after the start of the drug there is no improvement or you feel worse, you should consult a doctor.

    2. What you need to know before using the drug RHINO-TON®

     Do not use RHINO-TON® in the following cases:

     - in case of hypersensitivity (allergy) to xylometazoline and / or to any of the components of the drug (see section 6);

    - with angle-closure glaucoma;

     - with atrophic rhinitis;

     - with dry rhinitis;

    - if you have undergone removal of the pituitary gland or other surgical intervention, proceeding with the opening of the dura mater.

     Special instructions and precautions

    Talk to your doctor or pharmacist before using RHINO-TON®.

    Consult your doctor before using RHINO-TON® in the following cases:

     - in diseases of the cardiovascular system [including arterial hypertension, long QT interval syndrome (due to an increased risk of developing serious ventricular arrhythmias)];

    - with hyperthyroidism (a disease of the thyroid gland characterized by an excess of thyroid hormones in the body), diabetes mellitus, pheochromocytoma (a tumor of the adrenal glands that secretes excessive amounts of catecholamines, powerful hormones that cause an increase in blood pressure and other symptoms);

     - with prostatic hypertrophy;

    - if you are receiving or have received treatment with monoamine oxidase inhibitors within the last 14 days (see section "Other medicines and RHINO-TON®");

    - with increased sensitivity to sympathomimetics, which is manifested by such symptoms as insomnia, dizziness, etc.

     It is not recommended to use the drug RHINO-TON® continuously for more than 7 days, as well as other vasoconstrictor drugs for topical use, since it is possible to develop drug-induced rhinitis with swelling of the nasal mucosa, the symptoms of which are similar to the common cold.

     For hygiene reasons and to avoid infection, the spray bottle can only be used by one person.

    The recommended dose should not be exceeded, especially in children and elderly patients. The drug RHINO-TON®, nasal spray 0.5 mg / ml should not be used in children under 2 years of age. Children from 2 to 12 years of age are recommended to use the drug under adult supervision. The drug RHINO-TON®, nasal spray 1 mg / ml should not be used in children under 12 years of age.
